This is a Beta Hydroxy Acid ingredient that addresses the many systemic causes of blemishes.  For example, most people using over-the-counter products can have from a major to minor breakout caused by the many fillers, toxins, and detergents contained in these products.  Salicylic, an anti-irritant, is derived from aspirin and can only be diluted with alcohol.  This is the only Bella Vista product containing alcohol, a pure, non irritating, medical grade form.  For “true” Systemic Acne, Salicylic functions as an anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial product.  As a Beta Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic exfoliates the outer layers, cuts down on oil production and kills the bacteria that leads to breakout.  Only Beta Hydroxy Acids can get into the pore, giving properties AHA's (Alpha Hydroxy Acids)cannot.  Regular use will result in a decrease of fine lines, smoother skin and a reduction in the appearance of pore size.
